full, brass bowl hand guard. The bowl guard has "CSN" cut into the metal. This
piece also features an unsharpened carbon steel blade and a black leather sheath with
brass fittings. This item is new and securely packaged. Note the superb craftsmanship and
excellent detail in the pictures below.

Here’s a real collector’s piece! Wouldn’t you like to own it?

Blade retains an even age patina, although it does appear to have been cleaned at some point in the past.  The blade does not appear to have been sharpened.  Brass guard and pommel are a pleasing patina with some dings and scratches.  The bows are bent as is the front of the guard.  Most of then original leather is on handle but there is some missing from wear.  Double twisted copper wire is tight.  There is some minor pitting on the blade.  Markings are legible but weak.  Ames marking is legible but weak.  No scabbard.  Good inspectors markings on the pommel.  A nice honest original Civil War Union Cavarlymans sword.

US M-1850 STAFF & FIELD OFFICER’S SWORD

The M-1850 Staff & Field Officer’s sword
was the sword of choice for Union Officers during the Civil War. This high
quality replica has been produced in a manner similar to the original and the
result is a appearance that is faithful and even a little time worn! The M-1850
has an ornately detailed semi-basked guard with "US" cast into it. Blade is
elaborately engraved with different designs on each side. Steel scabbard is
finished in black lacquer with brass hanger rings and drag fitting. This sword
is PERFECT for re-enactment and stage use!

Product Specs:

Some common questions I have gotten about these
swords have been about the presence of the manufacturing country’s
markings on the blades, and the way the handle is secured.

Country markings are very small and discreet (sometimes only included on a
separate cardboard tag) and do NOT detract from the
appearance of the sword in any way! From what I know – the country
markings are required for customs purposes. Thankfully, they made sure to
keep them small so the swords retain their accurate looks!
The handle construction is well done! The blade and rat tail are one piece
(NO WELDS) and the butt end is hammered flush with the D guard cap. I took
one of these apart to see exactly how it went together – it was very hard
to do!

Blade material – Carbon steel, can be sharpened.
Handle – Brass finished semi basket guard with, hardwood grip, leather
and wire wrapped. One piece rat tail (NO WELDS!) and hammered butt cap.  
Scabbard – Black lacquer with brass rings and drag, steel construction.

Civil War Confederate Cavalry Officer Sword

This sword is a replica of
the Civil War sword carried by Confederate Cavalry officers. It measures approximately
40.5" long and features a 33" carbon steel blade engraved with CSA. The brass
hilt is has a CS on the guard; the handle is wrapped with leather, which is then wrapped
with brass wire. The metal scabbard has a black finish and brass fittings.

Shipping: Packages ship UPS or USPS Priority Mail.
(We choose the shipping method, but in almost all cases items with s/h over $9.95 ship UPS
Ground and items with s/h under $9.95 ship Priority Mail. S/h of $19.95 or more indicates
that the item requires an oversized package, and many items with $17.95 also require
oversized packages. S/h specified in the listing covers shipping to street addresses in
